Suva na Muthiya are flour dumplings flavoured with Dill. These are steamed and then tempered. Muthiya can be made from a range of vegetables and every household has a way to make them. Here I will share the recipe on how my mum taught me to make these Gujarati Dill Dumplings.

Ingredients:
1 bunch of Dill
3/4 cup chapati flour
1/4 cup gram flour
1 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander cumin powder
1 tsp green chilli ginger garlic paste
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
Enough cold water to form a soft dough
Tempering
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp sesame seeds
Method
Remove the Dill leaves from their thick stems. Then wash and rough chop the dill leaves.
To the dill leaves add the chapati flour, gram flour, spices, salt and oil.
Mix everything together and slowly add enough cold water to form a soft dough on the slightly sticky side. Shape these into mini logs and steam for 30 minutes.
Once steamed these can be enjoyed as they are drizzled with a little oil or they can be tempered.
To temper them, slice the dill dumplings into pieces. In a pan heat up some oil and once hot add in the mustard seeds. Once they stop spluttering add in the sesame seeds then follow with the sliced dill dumplings after a few seconds. Saute until a little crispy.
The tempered dill dumplings are now ready to eat. These dill dumplings are a great snack and also freezable so they can be enjoyed when you want a quick snack. Enjoy!
