Choco-Saran Bites

I shared a fried modak recipe before and the modak saran (filling) is divine. I thought I would coat the filling in chocolate to create these choco-saran bites. Here is how I made them.

Ingredients:
1/2 tsp ghee
60g fresh grated coconut
30g grated jaggery
Cardamon powder (2 cardamon pods)
Milk chocolate
Method
To make the Modak Saran (filling), melt the ghee in a pan on a low heat then add in the grated coconut. Sauté for 1 to 2 minutes or until the coconut gives off a light fragrance.
Add in the grated jaggery and continue to sauté until the jaggery fully melts and mixes in with the grated coconut.
Once the jaggery has melted add in the cardamon powder and mix. Then allow the mixture to cool in a separate dish.
Once the Modak Saran has cooled down, take small amounts (around a teaspoon) and form balls using the palm of your hand. Place all the balls in the freezer for 20 to 30 minutes to harden.
Once the balls have harden, melt some chocolate. I used the microwave to melt the chocolate. Place the balls one by one into the melted chocolate and coat with the chocolate using a spoon.
Place the chocolate coated saran balls onto some baking paper and allow this to set in the fridge for around an hour. Once the chocolate has set these are ready to eat.
These coconut jaggery balls coated in milk chocolate taste delicious and are the perfect size for a little treat too. These choco-saran bites are also perfect for Ganesh Chaturthi.
